On 10-05-2020, the Lee County Sheriff’s Department responded to numerous reports of car burglaries that occurred in the early morning hours in the Mooreville area. Deputies responded and took reports of each vehicle burglarized, totaling twelve vehicles. On 10-06-2020 Investigators received a call from Oxford Police Department inquiring about car burglaries. Information was shared and Investigators with this office traveled to Oxford to interview the suspects. After gathering information from those suspects it was determined that some of the suspects apprehended in Oxford were the same that burglarized the vehicles in Lee County. Three suspects were subsequently charged in Lee County with twelve counts of Vehicle Burglary. Two suspects are in custody in Lee County and one is currently being held in Lafayette County jail pending extradition to Lee County.
From Sheriff Johnson:
I want to acknowledge the hard work of Lee Co Sheriff’s Department Investigators Brian Kilgore and Drew Chisholm in this case. I also want to remind everyone to keep their vehicles locked.
