From Sheriff Johnson:
I want to thank the agencies below for allowing the Lee County Sheriff’s Department to be a part of a successful operation. Many of these arrests occurred in our county and we will continue to work to make our county safe.

Press Release:
This afternoon, I am excited to share that between the dates of August 13th and September 14th, The United States Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force along with 32 other federal, state, and local agencies, conducted a violent crime reduction initiative known as “Operation Triple Beam”. Operation Triple Beam brought together agencies to work as a force multiplier to identify violent offenders, target street-level gang activity, and collect criminal intelligence to systematically apprehend the most violent gang members and criminal offenders in the Northern District of Mississippi.

Operation Triple Beam, resulted in the arrests of 255 violent offenders. These individuals were wanted on charges ranging from homicide, aggravated assault, sexual assault, illegal gun crimes, narcotics possession and distribution, robbery, arson, and sex offender registration violations.

In addition to the arrests, Operation Triple Beam resulted in the seizure of approximately $52,773 worth of illegal narcotics, $50,565 in cash, and 76 illegal firearms, to include various military style assault rifles, as well as the recovery of 11 stolen vehicles.

During this month long operation, over 200 registered sex offenders living within the Northern District of Mississippi were checked for compliance in regards to sex offender registration requirements. In addition, approximately 150 home visits were conducted on high to moderate risk offenders on probation with the Mississippi Department of Corrections and the United States Probation Service. As part of this initiative, approximately 150 gang members were arrested or validated with affiliations to the Gangster Disciples, Vice Lords, Simon City Royals, Latin Kings, and the Aryan Brotherhood.

At this time, I would like to personally thank the following agencies for their participation in Operation Triple Beam and their commitment in making our communities safer.
