On Tuesday, April 15, 2014, the Lee County Sheriff’s Department Deputies were patroling the area of Green Tee Road, Lee County, and responded to a 911 call for a reckless driver. A deputy located the vehicle shortly after receiving the call and while attemtping to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle it turned into a driveway and the suspect fled the scene on foot. Deputies, along with the assistance from Tupelo Police Department K-9 Unit, tracked the suspect for approximately one block and lost track. Deputies believe the suspect was picked up by another vehicle. Also during the search of the vehilce and the search for the suspect, deputies and officers discovered a large zip-lock bag containing approximately 9 ounces of marijana and approximately 1 ounce of cocaine (both crack cocaine and powder cocaine). The marijuana appeared to be “high grade” with an estimated street value of $4,000 – $5,000 and the estimated street value of the cocaine being $2,000. The investigation is on-going and once a suspect is identified charges will be filed.
